Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of different dosages of arginine on serum cytokines in rats with acute hepatic failure. Methods 60 healthy Wistar rats were randomly divided into control(group A),hepatic failure (group B),arginineⅠ(group C),arginineⅡ(group D),arginineⅢ(group E) and arginineⅣ(group F).The hepatic failure was induced by D-galactosamine.Results The level of TNF-α in all groups raised except A group;there were significant differences between group B,C and group A(P<0.05);The level of IL-2 and IL-10 in all groups decreased except group A;there were statistically significant differences between group B,C and group A (P<0.05).Conclusion Supplement of arginine could up-regulate the levels of some cytokines in rats with acute hepatic failure. The dosages of 0.8g.kg-1.d-1 and 1.6g.kg-1.d-1 are more effective than any other dosages.
