Abstract: The prevention and treatment of hepatic fibrosis(HF) is a major medical challenge worldwide. The activation of hepaticstellate cells (HSCs) and the excess deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) are believed to play an important role in the development of HF.More and more researches have verified that endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) is involved in the development and reversion of HF. This review will discuss the effects of ERS on HF and explore new insights for the prevention and treatment of HF.
