Abstract: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is thought to be mainly caused by over-eating and sedentary lifestyle, while it can hardly explain the incidence of non-obese NAFLD. Recently, other possible causes and mechanisms has become a new research spot. It’s very hard for a patient with NAFLD to stick to a well-designed living regimen,so giving an overall and more effective treatment has now become another hotspot. This article reviewed the psychological stress, emotions, such as depression and anxiety, imbalance of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal(HPA) axis, glucose and lipid metabolism disorders, and immuno-inflammatory responses in the development of NAFLD.
