Abstract: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD),involvement of metabolic syndrome,is being the most common liver disease worldwide. The spectrum of NAFLD ranges from simple steatosis to NASH,finally leading to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). As the obesity is becoming global problem, the incidence of NAFLD,NASH and NAFLD/NASH-associated cirrhosis and NAFLD/NASH-associated HCC is increasing gradually. In recent years, many scholars believe that HCC might arise in the absence of overt cirrhosis in patients with NASH,and the mechanism for the switch remains elusive. The review will focus on the relationship between NAFLD and HCC.
