Progress in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in the treatment of patients with liver diseases

Abstract: Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) can be differentiated into functional and mature hepatocytes in the proper conditions. The application of BMSCs may provides a new approach for end-stage liver disease. In this review,we summarized the progress in the application of BMSCs for treating patients with liver diseases such as cirrhosis,hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver failure. We’ll also discuss the transplantation and the existing problems in the practice.
